If you see a large increase in the traffic to your website and if after you examine the visitor stats it turns out that it comes from places across the world or from other servers, your website is probably being attacked by an automatic bot. Such pieces of software go through random sites trying to log in to their administration area using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments below any sort of article where this sort of an option is available. Unfortunately, that's something relatively common in recent times, but if you know the IP addresses from which the attacks come, you may block them, so the bots won't be able to access your website in any way. Of course, you'll be able to block IPs even if you allow only people from certain countries to access your website.

IP Blocking in Website Hosting

If you have a website hosting account with our company and you wish to block one or several IP addresses, you could use the IP Blocking tool, that's integrated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. By using a rather simple interface, you'll be able to stop any IP from accessing your content even if you have never had a web hosting account before. All it takes to complete that is to log in to your CP, to go to the IP Blocking section, to select a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to input the IP address. You won't have to do anything difficult if you want to block an entire network - you'll just need to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot will block the whole range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed inside the very same section, so you'll be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with a click.
